The 31-year-old actress met her handsome new man when he worked as a dolly grip on the set of her hit ABC series Pan Am.
And it certainly looked like their heads were in the clouds as they enjoyed the sensational sunshine in the American territory, which was formerly a Spanish colony.
The pair had been staying at the upmarket W Retreat & Spa-Vieques Island in Puerto Rico, staying in a fancy ocean front WOW suite.
It is famous as the place where Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson went skinny dipping on The Bachelor.
A source told Us Magazine: 'They lounged on the deck of their room a lot. Christina was really active and did a lot of swimming.
'They strolled down Malecon, which is the main coastal street in Esperanza. People were super excited to see her there.'
And the Addams Family star's dedication to exercise is certainly paying off if her beach body is anything to go by.
The duo took advantage of their time off to enjoy some quality time together, and were even said to have enjoyed an intimate couples massage together.
The actress was previously engaged to actor Owen Benjamin, however it was a brief affair, ended after three months in June 2009.
Heerdegen has worked on more than 40 film and television productions, including Sex and the City 2, Nurse Jackie, Baby Mama and What Happens in Vegas.
The dolly grip is a dedicated technician trained to operate the camera dolly, placing levelling and moving the dolly track.
They also push and pull the dolly when for a camera operator and camera assistant.
James has worked on the likes of Men In Black III, Smash, Sex and the City and Revolutionary Road.
